Own domain or temporary domain: which is right for you?

4 min

When you create your MAILOV account, the first big decision is the domain. You can buy a permanent one, connect one you already own, or start with a temporary domain. Here are the differences.

Your own domain is your identity

A domain you own (e.g. yourbusiness.com) is what people remember, what you print on business cards and what shows up in search engines. It's also what lets you have professional email ([email protected]), which builds far more trust than a free email address.

A temporary domain lets you start today

If you haven't settled on a name or want to try MAILOV before committing, the temporary domain (e.g. yourbusiness.getmailov.com) gets your website running within minutes. You can do everything: editor, AI, chatbot, leads and bookings.

How to decide

If you already have a business name, buy the domain directly: it's included in the €89 fee and MAILOV sets up the DNS records automatically. If you're just exploring, start with the temporary domain and make the switch when you're ready. Either way, the content you create is kept.

The good news is this isn't an irreversible decision. Start where you feel comfortable and move to your own domain when your business asks for it.
